I have decided that a free standing tub is the way to go.  Low maintenance and you don't have to worry about those fancy jets breaking!

Weekend Finds

Here are our weekend finds from the Springfield flea market! 

 Here is Mom's great new primitive cupboard filled with her other flea market goodies!

 I brought home this white trunk, some garden tools, and a small white shelf.

 We are sharing these wooden spools and thread as well as the section of fence made of tobacco stakes.  During spring and summer the fence will look so cute in front of fire place.

I am going to fill my chicken feeder, fresh from the farm full of something...  I was thinking it would look cute on the table during the winter filled with fresh greenery.

Here we are after a wonderful weekend!  Next time I will wear a hat and sunscreen....  We will take a truck and a trailer and start saving our money now!



Extravaganza Day #2 & #3

Springfield has been our best flea market experience ever!  Everyone should go at least once, but make sure you have a truck with a trailer and a lot of moo-la!  We started out on Friday energized and ready to find some real treasures.  When we arrived at the fairgrounds we were overwhelmed at the amount of vendors with good junk!  It was sensory overload!  We had such a great time and filled up our van on the first day...

A three wheel bike is a excellent way to get around this huge market.

This trunk was my first purchase of the weekend. 

Mom loved this bird house to put atop her imaginary garden shed.

Can you imagine hauling this to the show!

I don't think this would make it down the Ocoee River, but would defiantly look great in mountain cabin.

Many vendors were set up in the rabbit, swine, goat, and cattle barns....

There was tons of salvage building materials, I always want to buy this stuff but I don't know what I would do with it.

Mom loading up her huge treasure on day one!  I forgot to take a picture of it while it was still standing, but will be sure to take one of all our finds once we get back to the hills of Tennessee.

On day two we took a more leisurely approach to shopping since we were almost out of room and money.

Rows and rows of good stuff!  No tube socks or T-shirts in sight!

Several vendors had lovely plants at great prices.

I wanted this Field of Dreams sign so bad until I found out it was $450...the vendor claimed it was used on the Field of Dreams movie...  I hadn't even thought of the movie or related it to baseball when I saw it, I just liked the look.

Like I said, this has been the most enjoyable trip, great junk, friendly and helpful vendors, nice weather, and good company.  If we save our pennies maybe we can come back in the fall! 

Extravaganza Day #1

Mom and I hit the road this morning headed for the Springfield Extravaganza in Ohio.  Since the show does not start until Friday, we took our time getting to Ohio and made a few stops along the way.  Our first stop was in Berea, Kentucky; here we visited this log cabin that sells handmade crafts and art created by the students of Berea College.

 I would have loved to have gone to this college and just created things all day.  They have some really talented students!

 Next stop was IKEA, which we just stumbled upon!  This was our first time!

 Ohh lookie here!  What do you know...IKEA has my farm sink for pennies!

 I had heard that the IKEAs were huge, but I was not expecting 3 whole floors, a restaurant, and a daycare!

 You can't really tell from this picture but this chair is covered in grey gingham...and it is comfy!

 I love this wicker basket for a coffee table.

 I think two of these wicker chairs would look great at the end of a kitchen or dining room table.

 Okay, so I literally obsessed over this child's tea set the whole way through the store! 

 

 I am really into grey right now. I would love to have the grey rug on the end to go with my grey gingham chair.

Can you believe it all we came out of the store with was our IKEA pencil! 

P.S. Everything at IKEA is much cuter in person then it is online.

Cabeen Originals

I envy Aaron Cabeen of Cabeen Originals, because he has turned his passion for wood working into a successful career turning reclaimed wood into unique pieces of furniture.   If you watched Extreme Home Makeover last night he made the front gates!  He also made his first appearance at the Highpoint Furniture Market last year...pretty big deal!  The CityScope has a great article on Aaron just click here!
