Weekend Happenings

Here are a few weekend happenings!

My brother Christopher graduated from Chattanooga State.  We are so proud of him!

Everyone came to my house to celebrate.

I used free books from McKay's Book Store on the tables, topped with iron stone, candles, and confetti of course.  The flowers were from my back yard.  I added a runner I cut from builders paper to the top of each table.  You can find this paper at Home Depot or Lowe's in the flooring section for about $10 a roll.  I love using this paper because it cuts down stains on table cloths and is just easy because you can just trash it after your party.

My mom and I added some new items to our booth Cottonwood Cottage.

I wish my refrigerator was magnetic so I could use these adorable magnets!

Love this stool for a  pop of red!  Plants would look so cute in the tool boxes!

I made my first Pinterest recipe (this is really sad because I have like 400 food pins) for the second time this weekend.  Rich loves these baked tacos and they are super easy to make.
You can top them with whatever veggies you like!

I went to Southeastern Salvage for the first time in a while.  They had a ton of cute wool rugs for super cheap.  I bought this one in hopes of using it in our Master bedroom.  But it was not so hot, so I ended up taking it back.  I wish I could have used one of the other ones they had in bright colors and fun patterns but my house is just not "bright."

I also purchased this blue quilt but prefer my old white one with my new darling perched on top!

Chattanooga is very "behind" and slow to get new stores.  When we do get something new it is rarely anything good.  We just got a Garden Ridge and I have to say I was pretty pleased.  I found these cute lock pictures there.  They also have tons of cute rugs and pillows at reasonable prices.

Well that is about all I've got!  The weather has been unseasonably cool and I am getting fall fever!  I hope to post our "Fall To Do List" soon!

New Addition

Meet Greta!

Rich and I have been talking about getting another dog for awhile.  When we saw Greta we knew she would make the perfect playmate for Grizz!

They get along great for the most part.  Grizz can be pretty rowdy sometimes and Greta is very very laid back so I think she gets annoyed every now and then...kindof like me and Rich.  I am the rowdy one and he is laid back as can be!

My only complaint is that she is not a cuddler, yet.  Out of all the comfy places she could sleep she prefers the hardwood floor.

To all of you who know me well I am sure you never thought you would hear me talking about dogs like they were children....lol!

Spray Tanning

I do not tan at all and skin cancer runs in my family on both sides like wild fire.  In my teens I tried my best to tan and turned the shade of a hot dog...never brown.  I can already see the damage I have done to my skin in the form of freckles both red and brown and I have pre-mature wrinkles!  Wahh Wahh...everyone told me to stay out of the sun but at 15 you want to be tan like all your friends and adults don't know a thing (oh how I wish I had listened!)  I still want to be tan.  For awhile I thought I had come to grips with the fact that I was pale or a nicer way of putting it is fair skinned.  But alas when going to the beach you want to have alittle color right?!?

So in a crunch for time and wanting to save some cash I decided that I would just go to a regular tanning salon and get in a spray tan booth.  Bad decision...I have had three professional spray tans applied by a technician with a airbrush and they are so worth the time and money.  To say I was disappointed with my Versa spray tan is an understatement.  My tan turned out blochy and did not even cover some areas of my body like the bottom half of the back of my legs....  I had to apply my own self tanner at home to even things out.  Even after I evened things out it just did not look that great up close.  From far away it was pretty good but up close not so hot.

I wish I would have taken more pictures.  As you can see with the picture below my palms turned out orange even with the barrier cream applied and then parts of my body where white like the creases if my hands and the back of my legs.  I would not recommend using the automated booth.

See how blotch it is....and look at my legs it was like barely any tanning solution was sprayed.

Considering before the tan and my touch ups I was as white as the sand it was better then nothing.  But like I said the professional tans are so worth it!  I recommend In The Buff Salon here in Chattanooga.

The products below are what I used to do my "touch ups".  I highly recommend all the L'orel products especially the airbrush can.  The color is very natural looking, drys really fast, and has hardly any fragrance.

Sorry this post has been so wordy...
But I am convinced the only safe tan is a spray tan and it is a trail an error process to find what works best!  Next time I think I will just buy a can of the L'oreal and have Chloe spray me down.

HRH

My mom stumbled upon this super cute store HRH ( I have no idea what that stands for) on hwy 59 near Foley, AL.  So one day while it was raining at the gulf we went to check it out and were not disappointed!  The downstairs of the store is full clothing, jewelry, and tons of cute tote bags.  Upstairs is home decor and furniture.  It was so refreshing to see a cute shop like this among all of the tacky souvenir shops!

4th of July

Rich and I took the week off and went to Perdido Key, FL with my family.  We did alot of relaxing and alot of eating...if you know my family you know we love food and eat just about 24/7...thank goodness we have a decent metabolism!

I stayed under the umbrella with my spray tan most of the time.  A review of my Versa spray tan to come...

My dad boiled some fresh gulf shrimp from Joe Patties and it was delish!

We ate plain boiled shrimp, shrimp Po Boys, and shrimp tacos!  After one day we had nothing by shells left!

We went to Great Aunt Agnes's house for the traditional 4th of July festivities.

Me and Chlo with our grandma.  We all have identical chins :)

Trying to get a picture with this guy....

We ended the night with fireworks on the beach!

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th as well and have enjoyed a few extra days of rest and relaxation!

JCP

So I made a trip to J. C. Penny's after my  cousin posted a picture to Instagram of Martha Stewarts new line there.

When I walked in I was shocked...when did JCP get so cute?  I liked almost everything I saw.  I was with my sister Chloe when I went and I think I was embarrassing to her because I kept ewing and awing over everything and could not get over how cute it all was.

This is the Jonathan Adler display...cute I know.

I want all this plastic dishware for summer!  The tumblers are my favorite.

Martha has the cutest paper goods section.

She also has everything you would need for a candy bar.
She also has rugs, curtains, and lighting from what I can tell on the JCP website.  I did not make it that far in the store.

There was also this demonstration area where I guess the give demonstrations/classes...maybe Martha will show up one day!  All this to say that if you have not been to JCP in awhile you will be pleasantly surprised!
